Metacognition Math
LabTM
The Math ThinkTM Metacognition Math Lab for
2nd to 10th grade students is the first of
its kind in the United States. The objective of this program is to not only teach the students to excel in school and on homework problems but also to teach the students how to 'think'.
The Math Think Metacognition Way
We teach students conceptual thinking using educational best practices and metacognition techniques, using examples that stimulate the thought process. This enables a student to solve even the most difficult of math problems with speed and accuracy
·
Students are taught to find creative solutions
·
Students explore patterns, not just memorize formulas
·
Students are allowed to progress according to his/her abilities
Students learning math in this way quickly become empowered with this knowledge, which is required for the 21st century.

The Problem Today
·
Recent studies have demonstrated that the highest paying jobs in the USA require strong analytical and creative problem solving skills.
·
Studies show that even the highest U.S. achievers -- those in the top percent of U.S. students -- were outperformed by their peers from the OECD countries when it comes to math skills according to a study conducted by Program for International Student Assessment.
|
| Existing Solutions
Other programs just focus on:
·
Rote memorization, instead of creative thinking
·
Repetition instead of discovery and problem solving
·
Remediation instead of enrichment as well
Curriculum Structure
The curriculum is structured such that students of a similar level are grouped together and taught the following way:
